Portfolio 3: Figure Drawing (take with Portfolio 1, 2 + 4)

Description:Artists will learn to make a figure drawing, one of the portfolio requirements for NYC Art High Schools.Using HB and B pencils, erasers, different grades of paper they will work from a combination of photographs, posable wood models, and live models to learn about proportion and drawing the figure. More importantly, they will gain confidence from learning these skills, how to practice them, and how to be kind to themselves during the process in a rigorous, fun and supportive environment.

Important Info:PAW’s full portfolio program is comprised of 4 segments (Portfolio 1, 2, 3 + 4 ) meant to be taken consecutively in Spring of 2025, followed by PAW’s 8th Grade Advanced Portfolio in the fall of 2025 if needed. Portfolio 4 is concurrent with Portfolio 3, during the same weeks, but on Wednesdays. It will also be available in the fall and possibly this summer. I recommend that you take all four parts of the program in order since the skills build cumulatively.

If there is an unavoidable emergency that makes it impossible for the student to attend many classes I will discuss remedy with parents on a case by case basis.
